Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from nearby Thailand, where casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities accompanying the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
