Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
